Thinking of the rube/human conunundrum (sp?). Does the young man get dangerously close to having an affair with another woman who takes him under her wing only to find out... she's his MOTHER'S SISTER!!!!!!!! (Yes, we've had spanking-the-monkey mother/son relationships, but has there ever been an Aunt/Nephew near miss???) Might the reveal cause a barroom brawl that ends in a group hug/dance when the mounty/sheriff arrive? Does someone need to throw me a rope and pull me in?

My gut response to the incest thing is that I don't find it funny. But that may just be me, being older and all. But second reading says that if we don't like the other woman, it might be a satisfying comuppance. The hug/dance thing I don't really understand, but the way you put it is charming.

Sorry about the relationship sounding like an 'incest' reference. Didn't mean for it to go thaaat far... think of the FUNNY film "Soapdish".
The themes I'm playing with are:
-Near misses
-Reveals
-Deception
-Life on a tight-rope
-Guardian angels (or those that find out what's going on before something happens)
-foils for the protags.
As for the fight... this was a riff off of the "Jug Band" cover when the fuzz comes by. Think of a choke turning into a dip, a slap into a tango, someone being thrown across the room/ slid across the [imaginary bar] into the arms of another...always looking for a healthy/harmonious catharsis.
